The Israeli Speech Hearing and Language Association (ISHLA) is a professional association whose members include most of the audiologists and speech pathologists in Israel.
The association has two primary goals:


1. To improve professional standards by providing continuing education courses and conferences, publishing a professional journal in Hebrew, and maintaining contact among its members.
2. To provice up-to-date information to the general public on professionally-related topics, including referrals to sources of information, evaluation and treatment.

Speech pathologists and audiologists are professionals who are engaged in the assessment and identification of communication disorders, evaluation of function, treatment, habilitation, prevention, consultation, counseling and research in the fields of: hearing, language, communication, speech, and swallowing, in children and in adults.

Preconditions for working as speech pathologists and audiologists in Israel include a bachelor’s degree in an accredited program for communication disorders and certification from the Ministry of Health. Most speech pathologists and audiologists in Israel hold a master’s degree, and some have a doctoral degree.

This ISHLA site is intended for the general public, for professionals in related fields, and for speech pathologists and audiologists, in order to provide information on evaluation and treatment of communication disorders. One section of the site is open only to member speech pathologists and audiologists.
